Ashley Easterbrook was a very special young lady with a strong interest in helping others. Her volunteer efforts included organizing a benefit for the residents of a battered woman's shelter, organizing Special Olympics events and founding a tutoring program for bilingual students. Five days prior to her high school graduation, Ashley and two friends were killed by a drunk driver. Since her death, her family and friends have been very active in educating the public about the dangers of drunk driving. This site has been established to help educate all of us regarding the issues surrounding drunk driving.
In addition to her devotion to others, she was a serious student and athlete. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was captain of the gymnastics team. In her sophomore year she became a certified lifeguard and saved three lives. Knowing that she had prolonged the lives of others was a source of great satisfaction to her and she hoped to continue to channel her energies to serve others. Ashley had been accepted to the University of Michigan School of Nursing, she was a member of the class of 2001. Most importantly, Ashley was our daughter. Like your daughter or son, she was loved and cherished by her family. She had hopes and dreams. She was just like your child. A scholarship fund was been established in Ashley's name to carry on her desire to help others. The non-profit 501(c)(3) fund provides scholarships for students throughout the United States. The fund also assists student organizations and anti-drunk-driving agencies with educational programs.

Dear God,
Well, I wanted to write and say that I just heard the best poem about a girl who didn't drink, but got killed by a drunk driver. The poem is sad but true. It's never the person who drank who gets hurt. Please help me and everyone to be safe on the road. It's scary to think of the people who I know that drink, that maybe a friend of mine, could injure or kill me, or another one of my friends. It scares me to death. Literally. If something were to happen and I can't say how I feel, please make sure my parents know that I love them and Adam with all my heart and more. Even though sometimes I may not show it, I do. And that I also love the rest of my family and my friends. Thank you. And please give an extra blessing to Drew. He is a safe driver although he speeds. I don't want to have to pick him up off the side of the road. Please.....this is more of a serious note that I have written but I feel that after listening to the poem, it is necessary. Thank you!
