Ashley Marie Easterbrook Scholarship Contest Spring 2017

Award
One-time $5,000 Scholarship

Eligibility Rules – There are only two!

  • You must currently be a high school senior (home schooled is okay) in the United States, graduating in the spring of 2017.
  • You will be attending an accredited university, college or community college in 2017.

The Contest – Who is and will continue to be the biggest advocate against drinking and driving in the Class of 2017?

We are asking each applicant to simply write an essay, up to 500 words, explaining to us how you are advocating against the dangers of drinking and driving. Convince us in 500 words that you are actively making your friends, family, community, and our roads a safer place.

In addition to the essay, you will be asked to complete a profile page that includes an About Me section. Together, your essay and your profile page will be your contest entry submission.

All submissions must be made on ashleysdream.org. Between March 1 and March 31, you will be able to create an account and submit your essay and profile on the website. One winner will be selected and awarded a $5,000 scholarship!

DEADLINE for submissions is 11:59 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2017

Evaluation of Submissions

  • Each submission will be reviewed and evaluated by the Foundation for Ashley’s Dream board of directors. The board, at its sole discretion, will determine the submission that they believe demonstrates the strongest advocate against drinking and driving in their community.
  • We reserve the right to contact your high school and/or any other parties related to your submission that can attest to the accuracy of the information provided.
  • Essays can be submitted anytime from March 1 to March 31.
  • The winner will be announced on or before April 30, 2017. The winning essay will be highlighted on the ashleysdream.org website, and the winner will be contacted directly.
  • The winner will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship, payable directly to the applicable, accredited higher education institution that they will be attending after high school graduation. If tuition is less than $5,000 per semester, the Foundation for Ashley’s Dream will continue to make payments to the institution for continued enrollment, until the full $5,000 scholarship is received.
  • Please note: If you are selected as the winner, you will be asked to provide two pieces of information:
    1. Proof of your enrollment at an accredited university, college or community college in 2017.
    2. Your Social Security number. We are required to have this information for our records in order to maintain our status as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Submission Tips

  • We encourage you to be creative in your essay in explaining how you have an impact on your family, friends, local community or the world! The more people you have impacted with your actions, the better.
  • It is also important that you demonstrate a continued commitment to the fight against drinking and driving.
  • Make sure you take the About Me description seriously. Remember, you are competing against hundreds of other high school seniors. If there are important things we should know about you, like involvement in other organizations or services, please let us know. (Hint – demonstrating qualities consistent with Ashley’s character will help you!).
  • Most importantly – Have fun and make a positive impact!
